Missouri, a traditional battleground state, voted just slightly for Senator McCain giving him 49.4% of votes to Obama’s 49.2% of votes according to established election results from Pollster.com. Missouri ended up not even playing a role in the 2008 election considering that the election was called in Obama’s favor before the results for the state were even in.
The Secretary of State’s website reports that out of 116 counties in the state, around 9 went to Obama, of these counties that went democratic were the states largest cities Kansas City and St. Louis. The voting pattern among different counties was similar to that of past elections in which the state has voted for the GOP candidate.
With no Senate race this time around the state focused primarily on Congressional Elections along with the Presidential Election. In the Congressional Elections both GOP candidate swept their districts, R Graves 52% to Bames’s 39% and R Luetkemeyer 44% to Baker’s 40%.
